I love bikes. I think they are wonderful vehicles for travel, tools for fun, and toys for tons of other things. I’ve owned at least one bike since I was five, (except for a four month stint when one was stolen) and have become so comfortable on two wheels that nothing else feels as enjoyable.
Over the past few years, I’ve been introduced to the world of fixed-gear bikes. While there are lots of pros and cons to riding fixed, the elegant simplicity of the bikes has tremendous appeal to me. I’m in the middle of building up a new one and will be posting it soon, but for now, I thought I’d post a couple links to fixed-gear goodness. These range from daily photoblogs to fixed news sites and all have great content. For extra fun, I’ve included a very done video that explains the rules of bike polo, a great game that is often played with fixed gears.
ZlogBlog – A Seattle-based fixed-gear site complete with media, commentary, and info about local events.
Pedal Consumption – Portland-based fixed photoblog with great links to images and events across the country.
Prolly is not Probably – Website showcasing art, media, design and bikes (my kind of place).
